FTC Proposes Amendments to Telemarketing Sales Rule to Address Debt Relief Services

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to amend its Telemarketing Sales Rule to cover the sale of debt relief services, seeking public comment on proposed amendments that would define debt relief services, ensure disclosures and prohibit misrepresentations, and restrict payment requests until services are fully performed.
