Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Fire Safety Requirements for Certain Health Care Facilities; Amendment

The final rule adopts the substance of a 2004 tentative interim amendment allowing certain health care facilities to install alcohol-based hand rub dispensers in egress corridors under specified conditions, and requires nursing facilities to install battery-operated smoke alarms in resident rooms and common areas.
