US Establishes Voluntary Program to Control Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Commercial Poultry

The US government is introducing a voluntary control program to monitor and eradicate the H5/H7 subtypes of low pathogenic avian influenza in commercial poultry, with the aim of preventing the disease from mutating into highly pathogenic avian influenza, which can have severe economic and public health consequences.
