Sea Turtle Conservation; Shrimp Trawling Requirements

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has issued a temporary rule for 30 days, allowing shrimp fishermen in Louisiana and Texas to use limited tow times instead of Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) due to environmental conditions caused by Hurricane Rita. This measure aims to facilitate fishing operations in the affected area.
