EPA Proposes Settlement Agreement with LEAN to Address Lawsuit Over Permit Petition
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a settlement agreement with the Louisiana Environmental Action Network (LEAN) to address a lawsuit filed by LEAN, which alleged that the EPA failed to respond to a petition submitted by LEAN regarding permits issued to Dow Chemical Company for two plants in Louisiana. Under the terms of the proposed settlement, the EPA will respond to the petition by December 22, 2004, and LEAN will dismiss its suit with prejudice.
