USGS Seeks Public Comments on Extension of North American Breeding Bird Survey

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking public comments on extending its North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) for another three years. The BBS, launched in 1966, involves volunteers counting birds along roadsides across the United States for 3 minutes each spring. The survey provides valuable data on bird populations, helping researchers identify declining trends and take action to reverse them before populations decline critically. The USGS is requesting public input on the extension, which would affect approximately 2,500 respondents annually, requiring around 12,500 hours of burden time. Interested parties can find more information and submit comments on the USGS website.
