NMFS Prohibits Groundfish Fishing by Hook-and-Line Gear in Gulf of Alaska

Summary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has prohibited directed fishing for groundfish by vessels using hook-and-line gear in the Gulf of Alaska, except for demersal shelf rockfish in the Southeast Outside District or sablefish, due to the depletion of Pacific halibut bycatch mortality allowance for this fishing method.
