NMFS Reopens Bluefin Tuna Fisheries, Sets Quota Transfer and Size Limits

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has determined that quota transfers from the General, Harpoon, and Incidental Longline categories to the Angling and Reserve categories are warranted, and has reopened the coastwide General category and the Angling category. These actions aim to align U.S. bluefin tuna harvest with ICCAT recommendations and meet domestic management objectives, while also setting a minimum size limit of 47 inches for school BFT in the recreational fishery.
