Coast Guard to Review and Approve Classification Societies for Vessel Functions

The Coast Guard will review and approve classification societies seeking to perform certain vessel functions, following procedures outlined in a new notice, in accordance with the 2004 Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Authorization Act, which requires approval or membership in the International Association of Classification Societies for such functions, starting January 1, 2005.
