Animal Welfare; Animal Fighting Venture Prohibition

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is publishing a notice to increase public awareness of new provisions in the Animal Welfare Act that prohibit animal fighting ventures in states where the practice is permitted by law. These provisions, added by the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, specifically address the sale, purchase, and transportation of live birds for animal fighting purposes.
