FAA Proposes Updates to Airworthiness Standards for Trim Systems and Protective Breathing Equipment
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed amendments to the airworthiness standards for transport category airplanes, aiming to establish minimum design standards for trim systems and define design and installation requirements for protective breathing equipment (PBE). These updates would eliminate regulatory differences between the U.S. and European airworthiness standards, while maintaining current industry practices.
