US Department of Agriculture to Pay Indemnity for Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza-Related Poultry Losses

The US Department of Agriculture is amending its general indemnity regulations to provide financial assistance to contract growers and owners affected by low pathogenic avian influenza in Virginia. The department will cover up to 50% of eligible losses, subject to available funding, and impose a 7-day waiting period before restocking premises that previously housed infected poultry.
