FMCSA Delays Tire Overloading Rule Expiration, Allows Continued Use Until December 31, 2001

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has delayed the termination date of a rule allowing the overloading of certain tires used for transporting manufactured homes, enabling motor carriers to continue loading tires up to 18 percent above the load rating until December 31, 2001, in response to a petition from the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI)
