FDA Proposes Change to Menstrual Tampon Labeling to Reflect Lower Absorbency Options
The FDA is proposing to update its labeling regulations for menstrual tampons to better reflect the range of absorbency options available, including a new term for tampons that absorb 6 grams or less of fluid, currently labeled as 'Junior', to be changed to 'Light'. This change aims to encourage women to use the lowest absorbency tampon suitable for their menstrual flow to minimize the risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS).
