NMFS Issues Regulatory Amendment to Separate SR/RE Rockfish from Aggregated Rockfish Group in Gulf of Alaska

Summary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has issued a regulatory amendment to reduce the maximum retainable bycatch percentages for shortraker and rougheye rockfish in the Eastern Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska, in an effort to slow the harvest rate of these species and prevent overfishing, in line with the objectives of the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska.
