CSX and Norfolk Southern to Conduct Buffalo Rate Study

Summary

CSX Corporation and CSX Transportation, Inc. along with Norfolk Southern Corporation and Norfolk Southern Railway Company have agreed to control and operating leases/agreements with Conrail Inc. and Consolidated Rail Corporation, with a 3-year study of rail rates in the Buffalo area to begin on June 1, 1999. The companies are seeking public comments and additional information to develop a more complete record of linehaul and switching rates for rail movements into and out of the Buffalo area.
