Risk-Based Capital Standards and Leverage Capital Standards Update

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of Thrift Supervision are proposing to update their capital standards and leverage regulations for banks and thrifts, aiming to implement the Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994. The proposed changes would standardize risk-based capital treatments for construction loans, real estate loans, and mutual fund investments, while simplifying Tier 1 capital leverage requirements.
