Vessel Inspection User Fees

The Coast Guard is adopting as final, with changes, the interim rule it published on April 21, 1997. The interim rule reduced annual vessel inspection user fees for small passenger vessels and exempted publicly owned ferries from payment of vessel inspection user fees as required by the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 1996. The rule also revised the discretionary exemption criteria for vessels owned or operated by non-profit organizations.
