US Commission Adopts Policy for Direct Access to INTELSAT Satellite System
The US Commission has adopted a policy allowing US carriers to access the INTELSAT satellite system directly, enabling them to order services at the same rates as INTELSAT's signatories, without going through Comsat exclusively. The decision limits Comsat's ability to charge for certain costs and denies requests for a 'fresh look' at long-term contracts and 'portability' of INTELSAT space segment capacity.
