NMFS Closes Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Fishery Due to Projected Quota Attainment

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has closed the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Angling Category fishery in New Jersey and northern states until October 1, 1997, to prevent overharvesting of the annual quota of 57 metric tons of school and 80 metric tons of large school/small medium Atlantic bluefin tuna.
