DOE Approves Navajo Transmission Project Route
The US Department of Energy has selected the preferred route for the Navajo Transmission Project, following the alternative described in the Final Environmental Impact Statement, which will involve building a 500-kV transmission line between the Shiprock Substation and either the Red Mesa, Copper Mine, or Moenkopi Substation sites, or a 345-kV line between the Moenkopi and Marketplace Substation sites.
