EPA Raises Environmental Concerns Over Two Projects in Nevada

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has expressed environmental concerns regarding potential impacts to the Campo-Cottonwood sole source aquifer and increased traffic through the Tecate Port of Entry (POE). The EPA has requested that these issues be further addressed in the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for two projects: the Clark County Wetlands Park Master Plan and the Fallon Naval Air Station (NAS) Range Training Complex. The EPA supports the proposal to reduce erosion, restore wetlands, and create wildlife habitat, but also recommends extensive monitoring to track the project's progress due to potential contaminant accumulation in sediments. The EPA has also expressed concerns over potential noise impacts and chaff from the NAS Range Training Complex, as well as impacts to the Walker River.
