U.S. Rule Adjusts Civil Money Penalties for Inflation

The new rule, implemented by the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996, adjusts civil money penalties for inflation, as mandated by the Federal Civil Monetary Penalty Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990 and the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977.
