NMFS Closes Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Fishery for Angling Category Fishermen
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has closed the fishery for large, medium, and giant Atlantic bluefin tuna (ABT) caught by anglers in the southern waters off Delaware and states south, due to projected depletion of the allocated catch by December 17, 1997, and to prevent overharvesting, the daily catch limit for ABT will be adjusted to one fish per vessel, effective January 1, 1998.
