International Management Code for Safe Ship Operations and Pollution Prevention

The U.S. Coast Guard has finalized a rule requiring U.S. vessels to implement safety management systems to prevent human injury, environmental damage, and property loss, in compliance with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, which was first proposed in 1997.
