U.S. Department of Education Allows Institutions to Use NSLDS for FAT Information

The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education informs institutions of higher education that they can use the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to meet federal regulations for obtaining Federal Aid to Students (FAT) information starting from the 1996-97 award year. This information was previously provided in a July 1996 letter.
