Indian Allotments

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing this rulemaking to revise the provisions on Indian allotments to reduce the regulatory burden imposed on the public, to streamline and clarify the existing provisions, and to remove redundant and unnecessary requirements. BLM has refined the suitability requirements and the public notification process to make the requirements clearer. We have also clarified the availability of lands within national forest for Indian allotments and the procedures for handling allotments on those lands.
