Restrictions on Joint Bidders for Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Lease Sales
The US government has imposed restrictions on joint bidders for Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas lease sales from November 1, 1996, to April 30, 1997, due to concerns over potential conflicts of interest. The restrictions, as outlined in the List of Restricted Joint Bidders published in the Federal Register on April 10, 1996, prohibit entities from Exxon Corporation and Shell Oil Co. from bidding with entities from other groups, including Mobil Oil Corp. and BP America Inc.
