NMFS Withdraws Proposed Rules for Multiple Fisheries, Citing Opposition and Sustainable Fisheries Act
Summary
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has withdrawn five proposed rules that would have withdrawn approval of fishery management plans for various fisheries, including the Atlantic bluefish fishery, spiny lobster fishery of the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic, stone crab fishery of the Gulf of Mexico, northern anchovy fishery, and salmon fisheries off the coast of Alaska, due to opposition from Regional Fishery Management Councils and a provision in the recently enacted Sustainable Fisheries Act.
