Federal Family Education Loan Program; Due Diligence Requirements

The Secretary amends the regulations governing the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program. The FFEL regulations govern the Federal Stafford Loan Program, the Federal Supplemental Loans for Students (Federal SLS) Program, the Federal PLUS Program, and the Federal Consolidation Loan Program, collectively referred to as the Federal Family Education Loan Program and authorized by Title IV, Part B of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA). The Secretary is making changes to the due diligence requirements for lenders and guaranty agencies participating in the FFEL Program.
