Law EnforcementCriminal; Proposed Regulations

On November 7, 1996, the Bureau of Land management (``BLM'') published a document in the Federal Register announcing a proposed rule to revise and consolidate many of the regulations which instruct the public regarding BLM criminal law enforcement (61 FR 57605). The 60-day comment period for the proposed rule expires on January 6, 1997. The proposed rule is very complex and hard to follow because of the conforming language for a large number of different regulatory parts. BLM recently received a request for an extension of the comment period. BLM understands that the rule is difficult to comment on, and is therefore extending the comment period for an additional 30 days.
