FCC Allocates FM Channel 246A to Calico Rock, Arkansas, as First Local Aural Transmission Service
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the allotment of FM Channel 246A to Calico Rock, Arkansas, as the community's first local aural transmission service, following a petition filed by Sugarloaf Broadcasting, in response to a 1997 ruling (62 FR 04227, January 29, 1997). The decision was made after evaluating both proposals and found Calico Rock to be the larger community, receiving at least five full-time aural reception services, thereby terminating the proceeding.
