EPA Revises I/M Program Requirements

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has revised the motor vehicle Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) Program Requirements, allowing areas that meet the 1990 Clean Air Act requirements to implement a less stringent I/M program. This change eliminates the need for a special performance standard in El Paso, Texas, and adds a visual inspection of certain vehicle components to the high enhanced I/M performance standard.
