FDA Proposes Changes to Contact Lens Care Products Regulations

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proposing to reclassify certain contact lens care products, including rigid gas permeable contact lens solution, soft (hydrophilic) contact lens solution, and contact lens heat disinfecting units, from class III to class II, requiring special controls, in response to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and the Safe Medical Devices Act of 1990.
