Detention of Merchandise

This document proposes amendments to the Customs Regulations to provide for procedures regarding the detention of merchandise that is undergoing extended Customs examination. It is intended that the Customs Regulations regarding this subject accurately reflect recent amendments to the underlying statutory authority, enacted as part of the Customs modernization portion of the North American Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act.
