Standard Design Certification for the System 80+ Design

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or Commission) proposes to approve by rulemaking a standard design certification for the System 80+ design. The applicant for certification of the System 80+ design was Asea Brown Boveri-Combustion Engineering (ABB-CE). The NRC is [[Page 17925]] proposing to add a new appendix to 10 CFR part 52 for the design certification. This action is necessary so that applicants or licensees intending to construct and operate a System 80+ design may do so by appropriately referencing the proposed appendix. The public is invited to submit comments on this proposed design certification rule (DCR) and the design control document (DCD) that is incorporated by reference into the DCR (refer to Sections IV and V). The Commission also invites the public to submit comments on the environmental assessment for the System 80+ design (refer to Section VI).
