Establishment of a Permanent Regulated Navigation Area for Southern Oahu Tsunami Vessel Evacuation
The US Coast Guard is proposing to create a permanent 'regulated navigation area' off Southern Oahu, Hawaii, to ensure safe evacuation of vessels during tsunami warnings. The area would be enforced only when a tsunami warning is issued for the Hawaiian Islands, and vessels would need to remain offshore until the situation passes and harbors are deemed safe for reentry.
