Agricultural Marketing Service Proposes Regulatory Amendments for Cotton Futures Classification

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is proposing amendments to allow for an optional cotton futures classification procedure, which would enable the verification of cotton bales' quality and age parameters using Smith-Doxey data, in response to requests from the U.S. cotton industry and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). The proposed changes are expected to be implemented in December 2013, with the Cotton Resolution No. 2 commencing in March 2014.
