USDA to Conduct Referendum on Proposed Watermelon Research and Promotion Plan Rule

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) plans to hold a referendum among eligible watermelon producers, handlers, and importers to determine if they support a proposed rule amending the Watermelon Research and Promotion Plan's importer membership requirements, which would allow more parties to qualify as importer members and eliminate the 50% import volume threshold.
