Medicare and Medicaid Programs: Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment; Ambulatory Surgical Center Payment; Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program; Physician Self-Referral; and Provider Agreement Regulations on Patient Notification Requirements

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposes changes to the Medicare hospital outpatient payment system, effective January 1, 2012, to align with statutory requirements and improve the accuracy of payment rates for hospital outpatient services. The proposed rule also updates the ambulatory surgical center payment system and revises patient notification requirements for providers.
