U.S. Department of Energy Issues Final Rule on Fluorescent Lamp Ballast Test Procedures

The U.S. Department of Energy has updated the test procedures for fluorescent lamp ballasts, shifting from photometric measurements to ballast luminous efficiency (BLE), which is measured directly using electrical measurements, and requiring manufacturers to use the new procedures starting from the compliance date of the amendments, expected to be issued or published by June 30, 2011.
