US Department of Labor Announces Changes to Unemployment Insurance Eligibility in Multiple States
The US Department of Labor has updated the eligibility criteria for unemployment insurance claimants in several states, including Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, the Virgin Islands, and Wisconsin, as part of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation 2008 (EUC08) and Federal-State Extended Benefits (EB) programs. The changes were triggered by a decline in unemployment rates in these states, with Alabama falling below the 7.0% threshold necessary to remain eligible for EUC08 benefits.
