U.S. Navy Issues Letters of Authorization for Marine Mammal Surveys

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has issued four one-year Letters of Authorization (LOAs) to allow the U.S. Navy to take marine mammals by harassment while operating its Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System Low Frequency Active (SURTASS LFA) sonar, in accordance with the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).
