Draft Environmental Assessment for Gray Wolf Population Reduction in Montana
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has released a draft environmental assessment for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks' proposal to reduce the gray wolf population in the West Fork Elk Management Unit to 12 wolves in 2-3 packs for 5 years, in response to elk population impacts. The proposal was submitted under the Endangered Species Act and special regulations for nonessential experimental populations in the Northern Rocky Mountains.
