NMFS Extends Deadline for Ringed Seal Listing Decision

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is extending the deadline for a final determination on listing four subspecies of the ringed seal as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) for six months, citing disagreements over data sufficiency and accuracy. This additional time will allow for further data collection, peer review, and improved final determination.
