FDA Releases Guidance on NAT for HIV-1 and HCV Testing

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a guidance document providing recommendations for blood and plasma establishments, manufacturers, and testing laboratories on implementing nucleic acid testing (NAT) for HIV-1 and HCV. The guidance, finalized in May 2010, outlines testing procedures, product disposition, and donor management based on NAT and serologic testing results.
