The US Fish and Wildlife Service has announced a 12-month finding on a petition to list Pinus albicaulis, also known as the whitebark pine, as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. The decision is based on available scientific and commercial information, and the whitebark pine will be added to the candidate species list, with a proposed rule to list it as a priority species to be developed in the future.
