The US Fish and Wildlife Service has announced a 12-month finding on a petition to list five mussel species in Texas as threatened or endangered, and to designate critical habitat under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. The five species, including the Texas fatmucket, golden orb, smooth pimpleback, Texas pimpleback, and Texas fawnsfoot, will be added to the candidate species list and a proposed rule will be developed to list them as priorities allow.
