Chrysler Granted Exemption for Jeep Patriot Vehicles
The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved Chrysler's petition to exempt the Jeep Patriot vehicle line from the federal motor vehicle theft prevention standard, allowing the company to install an antitheft device instead of marking the vehicles with parts numbers. The decision is based on the agency's assessment that the antitheft device will be as effective in reducing theft as required by the standard.
