McDonnell Douglas Corporation Proposes Airworthiness Directive for DC-9-81, DC-9-82, DC-9-83, DC-9-87, and MD-88 Airplanes
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is considering a new airworthiness directive (AD) to address fatigue cracking of the lower rear spar caps on certain McDonnell Douglas Corporation Model DC-9-81, DC-9-82, DC-9-83, DC-9-87, and MD-88 airplanes, which could lead to fuel leaks, wing damage, and reduced structural integrity.
